LaDidaaDidaaa!

My husband and I,both in our 20s, lives with my parents while we're staying in New York City. From where i come from(Tuvalu),other young adults I know still live at home with their parents. It is very common for adults to live at home with their parents back home probably to minimize the cost of living.

These days,grown-up children living at home is not an uncommon phenomenon. This is especially the case when the children study or work in the same city as their parents and still don’t have a family.
In our case, my husband works together with my parents in Manhattan and we all live together in a 3 bedrooms apartment, very beautiful with two balconies. We have 2 kids,my parents plus my two little siblings...therefore a total of 8 people in our apartment.

We do all the chores together, helping out everyday.Once my siblings go back to school, i am left with my kids at home 24/7 while my husband and parents goes off to work.

Everyday is just like any othe normal day.Feed kids, bathe them, let them watch preschool on tv, let them take their nap, more blogging, chat online, clean house...make lunch/dinner then take kids for a walk.

Usually on Saturdays, the family starts off with HIP HOP ABS exercise dvd playing loudly (poor neighbours!!),as dad and mum concentrate hard to get hot abs (yehhh go guys!) while falema (lil bro) exercise as if he's taking a stroll...lols.Afterwards,we say our morning devotion then everyone has a chore to do before heading to our own rooms to clean them.Doing the laundry is also every Saturdays, either i do it OR my husband and the kids.

Sundays, we start off by doing the devotion then do the chores.Aftewards,we do our own things till its lunch, then off to sleep, more chores then dinner!

Having to share chores is a great way to live happily when you're staying with other people. Not only is the house clean BUT everyone's happy!!!

HOW TO SOOTHE HFMD PATIENTS

Hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) is a common viral illness of infants and children. The disease causes fever and blister-like eruptions in the mouth and/or a skin rash. HFMD is often confused with foot-and-mouth (also called hoof-and-mouth) disease, a disease of cattle, sheep, and swine; however, the two diseases are not related—they are caused by different viruses. Humans do not get the animal disease, and animals do not get the human disease.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
My 13 months son recently had HFMD. Felt sorry for him while he had it, cried whenever we gave him something to eat-he even spit everything out afterwards.

Monday-Had a lil fever...was ok after giving him tylenol
Tuesday-Had the fever again in the morning, ok after taking tylenol.Went to Liberty Island and he was ok for a while.Didn't seem to eat though, but he did eat some chips and drink plenty fluids. We came home and he wasn't feeling and looking well.
Wednesday-Took him to the pediatrician and was shocked when she said that there is no treatment!!She said that the disease will go away by itself. The usual period from infection to onset of symptoms ("incubation period") is 3 to 7 days. Fever is often the first symptom of HFMD.

HOW WE SOOTHED OUR LIL PATIENT:
----------------------------------------
1)Treated his fever with tylenol, by giving it to him every 4 hours.Other than that, sponge him every now and then so he doesn't get that hot!

2)Since kids with HFMD dont usually like to eat as sores in their mouth hurts, we get him plenty of fluids or anything that is cold!

I DID IN FACT GAVE HIM JELL-O, YOGURT,ICE-CREAM AND PEDIALYTE WHICH HE GLADLY TOOK!!HE HAD THESE FOR TWO DAYS IN A ROW!

FRIDAY-He was up on his feet, and ate chicken noodle soup...not warm though!I was so happy. He did lose some pounds from having ice-cream and jell-o for two days straight...poor son!!

BUT....i am happy that he's now fine! From where i come from(Tuvalu), any disease that kids have that has to do with their mouths are taken very seriously!!So i'm happy that what my son had wasn't that bad after all!

PUTA (small donuts) RECIPE

I always love the smell of my mum's donuts whenever she makes it!It just makes you feel great and want to rush out and grab a donut and munch it happily!!Luckily, she has passed the recipe down to me and i can now make it whenever my kids wants to eat them!Enjoy!

Ingredients:
---------------
1 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt tsp. salt
1-2 eggs (makes donut softer)
1/4 cup sugar (or to your own desire)
1 cup milk OR water
canola oil (or any cooking oil)

Directions:
-------------
1)Get a Pan/small pot:Use just enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan/pot about 1/2 an inch. Leave it to heat on the stove.
2)Mix the dry ingredients altogether
3)Mix the milk (or water) to the dry ingredients so that it has the consistency of dumplings.Make sure its not to liquid and its not too thick...but just right!
4)Get a small cup ready with milk or water in it (to dip the tablespoon you will be using to make donuts with so the dough won't get stuck to the tablespoon)
5)Test if the oil is ready by dropping a tiny dough in it!If it sizzles, that means its READY!!
6)Now that your oil is ready, get a tablespoon and try and make little balls about 1/2 an inch to an inch thick. However big you want them. Warning:The bigger they are, the longer they have to cook and the more susceptible they are to being doughy in the middle and burnt on the outside.
7)Cook them until they turn a nice golden brown. *Carefully watch these to make sure they don't burn! MAKE SURE its medium heat and NOT HIGH!!
8)Once it turns a nice golden brown, carefully take then out and put it in a bowl with paper towels line in it to absorb the fats.
9)WELL DONE!You did it!Now make some hot cocoa and enjoy it with these delicious donuts!!
